Bio-electronic implant seeks to restore partial sightPosted by: thenetweekly in Tech News, World News
The Boston Retinal Implant Project, partially based at the V.A. Medical Center in Jamaica Plain, is one of 22 programs around the world working to restore vision to the degenerative blind. Their work: a bio-electronic implant that delivers images to the brain via a connector the width of a human hair. This is really amazing not having you sight has to be the worse disability ever if these guys can develop ways to give sight back to people it would just be the biggest break through ever…JS Tags: blind, eye

Musicovery your source for new and old music online…Posted by: thenetweekly in Music, Net GoodiesMusicovery is a great site simple to use with a interesting way to play music online. When you get to the site there is a widget that you can choose what type of music what year and what mood your in and with those selected Musicovery selects several tracks that fit those guidelines which as displayed in a graphical mp3 spider web, there is no other way to describe it very cool looking. The down side is you don’t choose what you listen too but you can have all the functions of any other media player volume, skip track etc. There is the option of keeping your favorite track so next time you choose those selections again in you favorite you tracks they will be there. I really think this is a great site for discovering new or old tracks that you might not of heard with its random selection of tracks to you mood and type. All you need to do is get a free account and you right to listen to all your favorite tracks online. Check it out differently worth a look…JS Tags: Music, online
Twitter, Facebook, Flickr, Youtube, etc. They add all this stuff into one RSS feed that you can view on there site or add to your favorite reader but the really cool thing is that you can find people you know and add them to your feed it really makes it easy to keep track of what you friends and family are doing on the Net. I love aht these site are doing this has been a problem for me for ages i use Google reader, I would make a folder for each of my friends and add all there feed to it this was time consuming and very painful to set up now with all my friends in the one feed keeping track of whats happening has never been easier.
I have used both services they both have good and bad points Feedfriend is easy to use it has a very plain clean look and has heaps of options for stuff you can add to you feed. Social thing on the other hand has a great looking site still easy to use but because it is still in beta you seem to be limited on what you can add to your feed, but for me Socialthing has the upper hand at the moment simply because when you add your Twitter account it searches all the people you are following and adds them to your feed. Both services are great and if like me you need to see all your friends, family, and your stuff in the one place then check them out Socialthing and Friendfeed…JS By the way if you want an invite to Socialthing leave a comment first comment will get my last invite. How many cocnuts does it take to fly from London to Amsterdam…Posted by: thenetweekly in World News
Finally, mankind has the answer to that eternal question, how many coconuts does it take to go from London to Amsterdam? The answer: 150,000 — converted into biofuel and poured into a special 747, of course. Virgin Atlantic completed its first biofuel tests yesterday with solid results, using a mix of 20 percent coconut oil and 80 percent jet fuel to power a 747 — a first for the airline industry. There’s still a long way to go, of course — only one of the jet’s four tanks carried the alternative fuel, and even Richard Branson admits that giant coconut plantations devoted to airline fuel probably aren’t workable — but despite harsh criticism from skeptics, it’s still an impressive achievement. Branson says that although this test didn’t use a viable fuel, it’s a landmark proof-of-concept — and that next-generation biofuels made from algae may one day power all our aircraft. Although this isnt the answer to our fuel need it nice to see companies as big as Virgin showing that biofuels might be our answer to our green house problems…JS Tags: , Environment, World NewsThis is very cool about 200 people stopped all at once in central station in New York the event was organised by ImprovEverywhere.com.
